AVS 2006 -- October 27-29, 2006School is back in session! But, no need to bring your books, all you need to bring is your dance shoes! The Atlanta Swing Era Dance Association (ASEDA) is proud to announce the return of the Atlanta Varsity Showdown (AVS)! What will you get at AVS? You will get an Ivy League swing education at community swing college prices (click here for price information). AVS is happening in Atlanta on October 27-29, 2006. Our visiting professors this year are World Lindy Hop Champion Skye Humphries and Ultimate Lindy Hop Showdown Champion Frida Segerdahl. This event will be the first time Skye and Frida have taught in the Deep South. Our esteemed resident professors include Bobby White, Kate Hedin, Peter Zellner, Stacy McBreen and Patrick and Natalie Manigault. Your weekend pass will give you access to over 16 hours of top-notch schooling in lindy, balboa, charleston and other specialty classes. We’ll also have an AVS first: a “floating workshop.” The classes will offer instruction for everyone, from the novice dancer to those with many hours spent on the dance floor. Your weekend pass also includes Friday and Saturday night dancing with live bands. Saturday night will have a late night dance and dedicated blues room. There will also be Jack & Jill, Jill & Jill and Jack & Jack contests. These will be great fun and an opportunity for you to compete or cheer on your favorite competitor.
