What is this?
Have you ever taken a private lesson and learned a lot from it? Or even just watched a private lesson, worked on the things you saw them talking about, and learned a lot from it? Did you learn details about your dancing in one hour that took months to learn in group classes? This class gives you the chance to experience some of the details that you can learn from either watching or taking a private lesson and applying it to your dancing.
How will this happen? What is the structure?
Andrew will be dancing with and giving detailed intermediate to advanced level comments to one lead & one follow while you watch. Then he will take a short break to give you a chance to ask questions & apply these details to your own dancing. Repeat this 6 more times and finish off with an Aha discussion, to overload you with details that make a difference.
Why would this help me?
The details of the dance are what improves most higher level dancers. These details can be hard to understand unless they are broken down in to specific layers and you get to see the difference one layer can make in someone's dancing. In this class, you will get to see the difference that subtle layers can make and you will immediately get to work on how to implement them into your dancing.
What else?
Beginners will get to put intermediate & advanced details into their dancing. Intermediate & Advanced dancers will get to learn subtle details that make a difference. Teachers will learn more things that can make a difference in someone's dancing in less than 10 minutes.
How do I sign up?
This class is currently available to AVS workshop attendees and will open up to other dancers if space is available (40 spots).
* Even lead/follow radio is necessary, so please try to sign up with a partner.
The price is $30. Or pay $5 more and get at least 5 minutes personally working with Andrew on your dancing (7 lead & 7 follow spots available for personal work and subject to approval).

Private Lessons:
If you can't stay for The Speciality Class, but you are interested in private lessons,
several highly-demanded local and regional instructors (as well as our AVS Headliner,
Andrew Sutton) will be available for Private Lessons throughout the weekend of AVS!
Private lessons offer up special targeted attention on your individual technique and
style, and are richly coveted by dancers of all levels! You may take the lesson as an
individual or as a couple. Each instructor sets their own individual rates and payment
will be made directly to him/ her at the time of the appointment. See the AVS
Registration for their contact information and available time slots. (A complete
list of instructors will be available at the Rregistration Desk, but if you have a
particular instructor you need pricing or availability for before the event, please
send an email to [email protected] and
we will do what we can to arrange that appointment.)
