Below you will find out a schedule of classes for the weekend. At this year's AVS we are requiring participants to sign up for a track (Beginner= Freshman, Intermediate= Upperclass, or Graduate=Advanced).

The reason we do this is so you be set on a specific progressive track of clases. If you fel feel you signed up for a track innapropriate for your level you can always talk with one of the organizers and request to be moved up/down. Do not cheat yourself (or others in the class) by trng to take advanced classes when you know you are not. Ou r instructors will quicly point you to the appropriate level if they do not think you should be there.

Here is the criteria for each track:

FRESHMAN: This series of classes are geared for the dancer with 6 months or less of dance experience. You have either just started swing dancing, or you have been introduced to it for a long time but you feel you have a lot of improvement on your basics. There are no pre-requisites to sign up for this track. Theses classes will try to accomodate you to learn the swing basics in both 6-count and 8-count patterns. (These are the 100 Swing Level classes)

UPPERCLASS: If you decide to sign up for this level you must have prior 8-cout swing experience. The average student at these classes will have anywhere between 6 months to a over a year of social dance experience. . More than likely this dancer will have taken a few classes and goes dancing regularly. If you sign up for this track you should be able to dance at a variety of tempos with different partners.

GRADUATE: This class is reserved for those with an extensive swing dancing background and experience. It will have a number of years of dance experience and probably has taken more classes and workshops than one owuld want to remember.

There is a series of electives everyone can attend to. The specific pre-requisites are listed in the class descriptions.
