Hey everyone,
Just wanted to say how much fun I had dj'ing and dancing today at the gazebo, and how sorry I am that other circumstances made that my only ATLX event this year. I missed dancing with and talking with everyone more than just one hour.
For our swedish new jersey friend, I believe the song you were asking about was Burning by Oscar Peterson, and if so that was approx. 288 beats per minute, according to the DJ Zabee school of beats per minute measurement (me and a wrist watch and a calculator). Is that a record, then?

Well, there is the ever famous song from Hellzapoppin' by Slim & Slam which is 313 bmp.
And of course there's White Heat, by Jimmie Lunceford clockin' in at 324 bpm.
And our very own Les Still's rippin' version of Bugle Call Rag is a whoppin' 335.

And Kate and I have a song called "Jitterbug's Jam" or somethiing like that that's 411 BPM that we mainly play just to get funny looks from dancers.
But aside from Les Still, I bet yours was the fastest song played in the weekend...Hey Kate, How fast is the Tcahvalo Schmidt "All of me"? _________________ --Bobby "incredibly" White

Missed you this weekend Sara!!! I guess you Dj'd the only dance I couldn't attend.

My favorite 300+ song is Lionel Hampton's "I've Found a New Baby" (333 bpm) in which he plays the piano at lightning speed using just one finger on each hand - incredible! _________________ Ken |

I missed you too, Terrace, and everyone else. Too many things happening at once last weekend.
This thread is turning into a fast BPM discussion. |

Well on the subject of music... can anyone tell me what version of Massachusetts it was that was played a few times over the weekend? The one that started like "M-A-S....S-A-CHU!" Know what I'm talking about? _________________ -Carolyn

That's Maxine Sullivan from the album "A Tribute to Andy Razaff", from the mid-'50's. Great CD! _________________ Ken |
