Hello All!
Happy Valentine's Day! On Friday, Feburary 9, 2007, The Atlanta 17 will be
serenading us in the upstairs Ballroom of the Student Center. Alan and
Regina will be teaching us some moves while Patrick will DJ the band breaks.
For five decades, the Atlanta Seventeen has been pleasing audiences with the
'smooth and stylized arrangements from the name bands of yesteryear.' Since
the 60's, the Atlanta 17 has been donating a large portion of their proceeds
to many different organizations. Be sure to come out on Friday to experience
"The finest in big band entertainment" and visit their website at
http://www.mindspring.com/~gordon17/pages/about.html
As always, the free beginner swing dance lesson will be from 8:00 to
9:00pm.
New this month we will be having a late night blues dance in conjunction
with Atlanta Blues Association. It will begin right after the band ends in
the room next door to the ballroom. As the pilot month, it will be free, so
be sure to take advantage of this oppurtunity!
A few more important and special announcements:
1. In partnership with the Atlanta Swing Era Dance Association, all Ga Tech
students get the ASEDA member admission rate at ASEDA dances (unless noted
otherwise). Visit www.aseda.org for more info about upcoming ASEDA dances.
Conversely, all ASEDA members receive admission to the Tech Swing Dances at
the Tech student rate (just show your ASEDA card at the front table.)
2. If you have taken photos at previous Tech swing dances, please email
them to GTDA ( [email protected]). We will post them to our web album.
In fact, you can see past photos of GTDA dances at picasaweb.google.com/
gtda.board <http://picasaweb.google.com/gtda.board>. Please send us photos
from this month's costume dance!
3. GTDA receives many inquiries about swing dance lessons and other places
to dance. Go to *http://www.aseda.org/lessons.html *to get more info about
instructors, and visit http://www.aseda.org/calendar.html for other weekly
dance opportunities.
4. GTDA is now posting special performances on You Tube. You can go to
www.youtube.com <http://youtube.com/> and do a search for "GTDA" to view the
performances online.
See y'all soon!
