Hey, where's everybody headed this Friday? Fernbank for Camilla Sanders or to the GA Tech dance?

Oh great - I finally get free night and the problem is NOT that there's nothing going on - there's too dang much going on!
Fernbank - Camilla Sanders, and martinis!
Tech - hundreds of newbies can be fun...
Kingsized - and darn it, who doesn't love some Kingsize?

IF I'm able to go out on Friday, I'm going to Fernbank to see Camilla and Kevin first. Then, I'll probably swing by (no pun intended) the Tech dance for some big band swing and blues dancing afterwards.

If you time things well...you can dance at several venues on Friday. Fernbank...then to Hilton, and finally to GT for the band's final set and blues if you'd like.

Me...I may be able to get to the GT dance.

I'm tempted to do Fernbank, 'cause it's free if I get there on time, and then maybe to GA Tech if I don't feel I'm getting enough dancing in. Anyone else clearer on their plans?

Well, I wanted to go to the Squirrel Nut Zippers, but since I didn't get tickets, that's out...dangit.

Hopefully we'll be catching Camilla at Fernbank for a while, then go over to Tech for a bit, and close out the night with Kingsized at POV, but only if I can get Mike to do that much in one evening Smile

...and Mary Lou, I hope to see you at one of those places! I haven't seen you in ages! Smile

Have a good day y'all (or should I say a good "Boy Scout Day" and "Kite Flying Day" Wink

I'll be at Tech.
I have a close friend who has guests coming in town from Kentucky just for our great swing happenings! They had heard about Tech and wanted to do that. We are looking to take them out to an authentic Atlanta restaurant before hand-- anyone got any ideas? (Something original and not available in KY.)

So, it seems the consensus is to do as much dancing as is humanly possible, travel across town twice to get to disparate venues, and overall be rediculously over-supportive of the Atlanta Swing Scene.

You guys rock.

Did I miss anything?

Hi Aimee

I suppose the only category of BBQ would fit the bill to some. I have no recommendations, but at one time there was a swing group visiting BBQ places on a regular basis (on Saturdays?).

Three places that I have taken groups in the Midtown area is classically Old Spaghetti Factory on Ponce (east of Piedmont), which is a lower cost dinner in nice atmosphere. Upping the class, I have taken business groups to Atlantic Station, and one group I took there recently was wowed by the combination of shopping and restaurants. I have to mention the lower cost end, the Varsity, which either evokes strong boos or applause. In all the times I have gone to the Varsity, I have never ordered from my car.

Long-term, "Midtown Mile" should provide even more restaurant choices as developers have commitments to infuse Midtown with even more retail.

Try the FLyin' Biscuit in Midtown...At the corner of 10th & Piedmont.

There is always the good ole' Fat Matt's Rib SHack....

Thanks guys! I am not sure which we'll choose- but I really like the ideas Nima left. I have always wanted to try the Flying Biscuit place. Sounds fun! Mark- definately NOT the varsity-- big boos in my book. I am an Atlanta girl born and raised- but there are some traditional places I have to resist.
Thanks fo rthe suggestions.
