Hi Everyone, my name is Brooks. I am from Albany New York. I am coming down to Atlanta to visit Georgia Tech. I figured I should check out the dancing that's going on. So if you know of what's going on Friday March 16th, or Saturday March 17th, please let me know.
Also, one of your Atlanta people just recently moved up to my area - Javier. He was the one who directed me to these forums 8)
I look forward to getting to dance in GA! Also, later on I might be requesting directions or even a ride if that's possible. Thanks everyone! |

There's the usual Friday night dance at the Point of View lounge.
ASEDA usually does a dance or two a month, but hasn't announced anything yet for March.
We have dancing on Monday and Weds nights, and about half the weekends. It appears you may hit a sub-optimal weekend for dancing.
There's always contra dance on Friday nights. |

Thanks for the reply. Hopefully something will be announced for that weekend. is Point of View dance a swing dance, or is it some sort of ballroom /various mix dance? _________________

POV is a bar/ lounge that has a terrific view if the Atlanta skyline! (Very romantic setting. ) It is a small croud atmosphere (typically) with a live jazz/ swing band and a dance floor. It is best to plan to go with/ or meet up with other dancers (planned). I have enjoied the nights that I have gone! If FernBank is having Martinis and IMax- then people usually go to that first then head over to POV. (Martini's and IMax provides a live jazz band in a most non-dancing croud... however, we dance! It is actually great fun to dance there- you kinda feel like you are putting on a casual show! (*Again, both of these venues typically are best if you have planned to go with other swing dancers in advance.- check the forum.... if April posts it in the dancing opportunities for the week/ or if the band is Camilla Sanders or Kingsized- then likely dancers will go.) Hope it all works out for ya! _________________ -Aimee |
